Mastering User Story Mapping (Workshop Virtual ao Vivo, 2 sessões de 3 hrs cada)

27 e 28 de Julho, das 09:30 às 12:30

"Discover the Whole Story, Build the right Product"

One of the key objectives of a project inception is to collect requirements collaboratively. But, many times, it is dificult to decide where to start and what to focus on. Story mapping is an engaging activity where all participants are involved in the process of building the product backlog on a wall, versus writing a dull 100-page requirements specification document.

User story mapping is a super powerful technique for backlog visualisation introduced by Jef Paton. It allows you to see the user stories with regards to user journey and thus helps you to see the bigger picture of your product along with priorities.

User story mapping is a super powerful technique for backlog visualisation introduced by Jef Paton. It allows you to see the user stories with regards to user journey and thus helps you to see the bigger picture of your product along with priorities.

This technique is so versatile that it can be used in many phases of a project. It can be used in the initial product vision workshop, applied on a small feature to provide context, and it can even be used to restructure an endless, meaningless backlog that has lost focus after multiple iterations.

In this Workshop we will focus on the first case.

What you'll learn

Managing thousands of user stories is a nightmare. Building feature after feature feels great in the beginning but becomes mind-numbing if you don't measure the "success" of the features. The flat backlog that many product teams use - with many unrelated user stories - is one of the root-causes why many agile product teams fail.

User story maps are here to help us - they present a simple tool that links product discovery to product development.

This Workshop introduces the User Story Mapping technique and shows how they may help you to better understand the Story Map Process:

  • focus on outcome and users
  • tell the user's story
  • progressively add details and options
  • prioritize features based on outcome
  • create release slices & development slices

And more importantly, this Workshop shows how the Story Map can be used as a collaborative tool that facilitates and guides your agile team to success.

You will also get prepared to facilitate or participate in a User Story mapping workshop once you get back to your work environment.

Because Participants will have different level of knowledge about User Story Mapping, the Workshop will start with a story mapping game, in order to provide a common understanding of the technique.

All participants will receive a copy of the "User Story Mapping Guide".
